Prologue

In the years before publishing Super No Bueno, I would attend live events and keep written results in a notebook.

Double Dare was an iPPV that AIW held at their former home, Turner’s Hall, on November 1, 2013. This was around the time that the company was beginning to find it’s promotional voice. Turner’s Hall was closed permanently and later renovated and reopened in the time since this show occurred. Additionally, AIW has moved its home base to the nearby Mt. Carmel, where attendance has surged and they have hit a creative stride. It’s fun to look back just a few short years to see what has and hasn’t changed in that time.

The Show

-The Jollyville Fuck-Its (T-Money & Nasty Russ) defeated Team UK (Mark Andrews & Pete Dunne).

-Youthanazia (Matt Cross & Josh Prohibition) defeated The Submission Squad (Evan Gelistico & Pierre Abernathy).

-The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter) defeated Hope & Change (Greg Iron & Veda Scott).

-#NIXON (Rickey Shane Page & Bobby Beverly) defeated The Sex Bob-Ombs (Mat Fitchett & Davey Vega).

-“AK-47” Allysin Kay (c) retained the AIW Women’s Championship by defeating MisChif after a botched three-count.

-Intermission: Met UltraManis Black and BJ Whitmer at the gimmick table. I bought an autographed picture and pin from Black.

-The Jollyville Fuck-Its defeated Youthanazia.

-#NIXON defeated The Hooligans.

-Johnny Gargano defeated Jonathan Gresham by submission.

-The Jollyville Fuck-Its defeated #NIXON in the Double Dare tournament finals to win a future shot at the AIW tag team titles.

-UltraMantis Black upset Ethan Page for the AIW Absolute Championship.

-Intermission: End of iPPV.

-Michael Elgin and Josh Alexander fought to a 40-minute draw in an absolutely fantastic match. In fact, it was less a match than a fight. They flipped into beast mode early  and relentlessly beat the shit out of each other.About 25 minutes in, Alexander got major color. Both men landed numerous power moves that resulted in near-fall after near-fall. The match ended with a dual submission/pinfall, making it a draw. Elgin challenged Alexander to a rematch at the December show. Alexander accepted the challenge.

It is well worth buying the DVD or iPPV for this match alone. They tore the house down.
