Survivor Series Review: Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down Edition!

1.) Noam Dar/Rich Swann/TJ Perkins defeated Ariya Daivari/Drew Gulak/Tony Nese when Swann pinned Daivari after a 450 Splash.

2.) Kane beat Luke Harper with a chokeslam and pin.

Thumbs up: Renee Young. She is one of the brightest young voices in not just wrestling but sports as a whole.

Thumbs down: Lita. She is just…ugh.

Thumbs up: Miz. His promo at the panelist table was lively and off-the-cuff.

Thumbs down: Mick Foley. These days the former King of Hardcore stumbles and fumbles his way through even the simplest of segments.

Thumbs up: Corey Graves & Mauro Ranallo. These two make a killer tag team calling the action.

Thumbs down: WWE production staff. There were some glitches during the show, most noticeably Renee Young’s vocals popping up during a match.

Thumbs up: Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho. Killer improv’d Q & A segment with straight man Tom Phillips. They two have amazing chemistry and are so witty.

Thumbs down: The Preshow. Two hours is juuuuuuust toooooooooo loooooooong.

Main Show

3.) Bayley/Alicia Fox/Nia Jax/Sasha Banks/Charlotte Flair (w/ Dana Brooke) defeated Becky Lynch/Naomi/Alexa Bliss/Carmella/Nattie Neidhart (filling in for Nikki Bella).

4.) The Miz pinned Sami Zayn to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

5.) Enzo & Big Cass/The Shining Stars/Anderson & Gallows/Sheamus & Cesaro/The New Day defeated Heath Slater & Rhyno/Breezango/The Usos/The Hype Bros/American Alpha when Cesaro forced Jey Uso to submit to a Sharp Shooter.

6.) The Brian Kendrick retained the WWE Cruiserweight Championship by disqualification over Kalisto when Baron Corbin interfered in the match and decimated both men.

7.) Shane McMahon/Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton/AJ Styles/Dean Ambrose defeated Braun Strowman/Seth Rollins/Roman Reigns/Chris Jericho/Kevin Owens when Bray Wyatt hit Roman Reigns with the “Sister Abigail” for the pin.

8.) Bill Goldberg beat Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) in 1:26 after two spears and a Jackhammer to secure the pin.

Thumbs up: Nia Jax. She kicked ass and looked strong while she was in the ring.

Thumbs down: Nikki Bella. Her selling of that injury was legit terrible.

Thumbs up: The Miz. He held his own with Zayn. The Miz has finally hit his stride as an overall performer.

Thumbs down: Vince McMahon. STOP BURYING ZAYN! This guy is an all-around talent who the fans are dying to rally behind. Don’t throw that away.

Thumbs up: The Brian Kendrick. His in-ring work is as crisp as ever, while his character is seasoned and menacing.

Thumbs down: Kalisto. The company desperately wants a replacement for Rey Mysterio…but he ain’t it.

Thumbs up: Traditional Survivor Series Elimination matches. I thought all three were good to excellent for varying reasons. Many fans weren’t excited about the WWE dusting off the concept but I’d say it was a success.

Thumbs down: The DQ finish to the Cruiserweight match. The division got off to an anemic start. Letting the champion and a top contender get demolished by a behemoth only puts the group as a whole further behind the eight ball.

Thumbs up: Bill Goldberg & Brock Lesnar. Talk about doing what is best for business, this was it. The quick victory was intense and unexpected. It immediately launched the value of Goldberg’s stock, while focusing Lesnar’s attention on seeking revenge. WWE fans are excited and talking. This rematch means big money.

Thumbs down: Shane McMahon. You are married, you have three kids,  and are 46-years old. I don’t mind you wrestling. In fact, I usually enjoy it. But the big goofy spots gotta go. You might not walk away from the next one.
