(Promotion: Absolute Intense Wrestling – Event: “Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang – Location: Turners Hall, Cleveland, Ohio – Date: April 25, 2014)
Note: Every so often I crack open one of my journals and post the notes I kept about shows prior to launching Super No Bueno. This is one such post. Though far less detailed than the notations I keep now, they are, nonetheless, a fun look back.
And, oh yeah, the gimmick of this show was that every match was contested under “no disqualification” rules.
-Announcer Pedro DeLuca came out to start the show. I can’t even explain how great his entrance was. He came out wearing a cream suit and has a ring on every finger. He got various girls from the audience to kiss his rings. Tonight is going to be nuts.
–Alex Shelley tapped out to Tim Donst to open the show.
–Veda Scott lost to Seleziya Sparx after Gregory Iron hit her with a fluorescent light tube.
–Matt Cross defeated Bobby Beverly, Brent Banks, Cheech, Davey Vega and Lucas Towns to win a terrific six-way match.
–Tyson Dux beat Shane Hollister.
–Gregory Iron beat Josh Prohibition after Matt Cross interfered on Iron’s behalf. Afterward, Cross cut a scathing promo on Probo.
–Athena successfully defended the AIW Women’s Championship against Nikki Storm.
-The Jollyville Fuck-Its (Nasty Russ & T-Money) retained the AIW Tag Team Championship over Faith in Ryan (Christian Faith & Eric Ryan) and Flip Kendrick & The Duke in a crazy, crazy “Fans Bring the Weapons” match. At one point FiR executed a Blockbuster onto a pile of Legos. (I also note that “Bea Arthur” got involved in the match. I don’t recall what in the hell I was referring to.)
–Jimmy Jacobs, BJ Whitmer & Tommy Mercer debuted as a new faction, jumping the boys from Jollyville. Jacobs cut a tremendous promo about how the trio has been “forgotten”…but they won’t be any longer.
–Michael Elgin retains the AIW Absolute Championship over Colin Delaney. Tim Donst jumped the barrier to congratulate Elgin—and challenge him to a future title shot. Elgin wanted to do it immediately but AIW Acting-President Matt Wadsworth delayed the match until Absolution. That is, the match will happen if Elgin makes it through JLIT (JT Lighting Invitational Tournament) weekend as champion. (Note: Elgin came out to ringside wearing a do-rag and looking gangster as fuck.)
–ACH is heeeere!!
–Ethan Page/Louis Lyndon defeated Johnny Gargano/ACH after ACH took a bad spill to the floor. He was pinned moments later and helped from the ring. I hope he is alright.
