Mrs. Magician (band)
The staff here at SUPER NO BUENO discovered Mrs. Magician a few days ago. Always on the lookout for cool stuff, we were surfing around Periscope and stopped on the broadcast of an art tutorial from California. The artist had music playing in the background as he drew.
SNB: “Hey, what band is that?”
Artist: “Umm…Mrs. Magician.”
We were intrigued by the band’s sound:
Sunny
Surf-y
A hint of darkness
We did a little investigating. Turns out the band is a five-piece from San Diego. They have a new album, Bermuda, coming out on Swami Records on May 5, 2016.
The first single, Forgiveness, is super dope.
They have played with a veritable “Who’s Who” of the SNB staff’s favorite bands: The Greenhornes, King Tuff, (Cleveland’s own) Cloud Nothings, Deadbolt, and Spencer Moody of the Murder City Devils (the staff’s all-time favorite band).
According to the band’s Bandcamp page (https://mrsmagician.bandcamp.com/) they will be playing the SXSW festival in March.
